In 2016, MDT was approached to design our first Cannabis Cultivation facility for this budding industry. Since then, we’ve grown our knowledge base from this singular project into a portfolio of projects ranging from cultivation and processing facilities to dispensaries. The process of designing for cannabis facilities hinges on relationships- relationships with clients, their team of experts, and trusted engineers, as well as the spatial relationships between designed processes in each individual project.

Often we are asked to develop projects within an existing building. This poses its own unique set of challenges and intricacies in merging structural, process, transactional and mechanical flows. The realization of cannabis design by adaptive reuse or from the ground up construction requires attention and coordination to a range of processes and information flows between client, technical expert, engineer and architect. Designing for these varied and complex flows and planning for future growth is where we excel.
