Celebrating 3 decades of MDT
1992
The seeds for what later became Manske Dieckmann Thompson were planted in 1984, when Patrick Thompson joined the office of Richard Solomon. Larry Dieckmann was at that time associated with Rick as they pursued work together and with other collaborators, in Larry’s case with his father’s firm in St. Louis. Larry and Pat left in 1985 and 1986 respectively for other firms but remained in touch. Fast forward to 1992: both were working independently and had enough work to keep both more than busy. At the suggestion of a mutual friend Larry and Pat reconnected and, over lunch at Binyon’s, a partnership began to take shape.

In 1994 Pat and Larry took offices in the Uptown Bank Building, with early clients including Travelers and Immigrants Aid (later to become Heartland Alliance), Sinai Family Health Centers, and Deborah’s Place. A collaboration with Larry’s father’s company, Manske Architects of St. Louis, founded by Larry’s grandfather Walter Manske in the 1920s, was established and Manske was added to the firm name to honor the relationship.

MDT Office- 4619 Broadway
Assisted by Suellen Long, longtime Chair of the Uptown Chamber of Commerce and Uptown United, and executive director Joyce Dugan, and funded in part by a SBIF grant, MDT moved to a storefront office at 4619 Broadway in 2007. For most of the previous years MDT had operated as a two-person office, but following the move the firm began to grow, with Andy Bonesz and Jane Sloss joining the firm at separate times.
